Great bang for the buckJul 29, 2001
I'm quite impressed with these cables and with component connections in general. Component is like S-Video, but with the two color differentials separated so that in addition to less jitter, you also get more accurate colors. These cables come joined together by their insulation, but it's easy to separate them as you would with any lampcord speaker wire. I ended up braiding all three cables together to combat RF interference and I noticed a little cleaner picture. While I'm fairly sure I would have got an even better picture if I had spent the money for a Bettercables set, I am happy with the AR for now. For [price], you really can't go wrong. However, if you're VERY picky about picture quality and don't mind spending more, go for Bettercables. I probably will someday.

Great Cables!Dec 30, 2001
I just got my first dvd player for Christmas, and got these cables to go along with it. I have been looking for good component cables for a while, and all I found were Monster Cables ..., and RCA brand cables (which a lot of people have complained about having problems with)... Then I finally found these ... Anyway Christmas day I hooked up my dvd player with these cables and at the same time through composite cables. The first movie I played was Primary Colors, and in the begining of the movie there are a lot of reds, (which as most people know reds especially bleed on the screen), but not when using component cables. But when you switch back and forth between component and composite cables you can really tell a difference. And you can also see a big difference between component and s-video, although most people say they can't tell any difference. In conclusion, if you're in the market for component cables go with Acoustic Research.

GREAT VALUE!Oct 23, 2005

Let's face it. Most audio cables are WAY over-priced (Monster in particular)! These are priced where they should be and provide very satisfactory performance at the right price. You might get a little better performance with a more expensive cable, but you'll have to pay 50% more to get just a small improvement (law of diminishing returns). Buy these. You'll probably never know (or hear) the difference.

Good quality cableJan 12, 2007
By Ecas I bought several sets of component video cables, including the Acoustic Research AP091 and the Monster Ultra 1000. I have to admit that by looks alone, the Monster cables seemed far superior to the Acoustic Research. But they should, considering how much they go for. I hooked both of them up between my 1080 HD Cable Box and my Sony 1080 HD TV. I am not an expert by any means, but I did not see any real difference between the cables performance wise.
For the price, I would recommend the Acoustic Research cables.

The Best Overall CableJul 16, 2006

I currently utilize the 3 foot version of this cable for my DVD player. In the past I have used the common "yellow" analog connection for my dvd players, however, after discovering component video there is no turning back. This particular cable is very durable, and provides outstanding signal strength. Acoustic Research is reasonably priced, and there are no defects to their products. As a result of their excellent products I have become a loyal customer for years to come.
