5This is an adapter not the full cableAug 06, 2005
    By Wayne
For gawd sakes people this is an adapter for the full HDMI(male) or DVI(male) cables not the actual cable itself! This is for Cathy and Brandeis for their neg remarks.

I didn't purchase this item but just had to add my 2 cents after reading the half-baked reviews. Again, to clarify you buy this adapter if you already have a hdmi cable or dvi cable and your TV is hdmi and your set top box is DVI (or your computer).

    3High Quality, but only 1 foot (.3 meters)!!Nov 13, 2004
    By SchaqFu
The quality of the cable is excellent, but the length is only 1 foot. At the time of this writing it doesn't indicate length anywhere on the Amazon.com page for this item. I guess it's my mistake for assuming it would be the more standard one meter rather than something shorter. If that's the length you need, you will be very pleased with this cable -- it has the same look and feel of a Monster-brand cable. But I can't imagine very many practical uses for a 12-inch cable. Even if I placed my set top box directly on top of my 34" television it would still not reach the part of the back panel with the HDMI port.

1Well made but too short, wrong endJan 19, 2005
    By Cathy J. Johnson
The length is only one foot not mentioned in the product discription plus the cable box end is female rather than male and will not plug into your cable box as led to believe. I have to return the item as unuseable.

    5Good Quality ProductApr 25, 2009

Product here, is a short, one foot adapter cable that attaches to the end of a DVI computer cable. The DVI cable can then be used to connect a PC to HDTV (HDMI in). This will work, if the HDTV will accept computer signal input. Some will, but this may not be an automatic feature. Input adjustments may be necessary. Also, the PC should have a video card capable of sending HDTV resolution.

This adapter cable is good quality, black, and the same size as the AR product, APO98, which is a blue DVI cable. The cable size of the adapter cable is larger than most cheap HDMI cables, but smaller than AR cables, PR198, and MS298, which are very high quality DVI cables.

The product was as I expected. Not yet tested....

5This is a DVI to HDMI ADAPTER - You NEED A DVI CABLEAug 04, 2006
    By Robin
I never write reviews, and haven't even used this product yet - as I just purchased it... But I felt I had to respond to the reviews I read. You guys are right - this is an ADAPTER, not meant to serve as a cable, thus the length... BUT - what you've wrote is misleading in that you do need a DVI cable - NOT an HDMI cable as the HDMI portion is "male" - one end fits right into your HDMI devise, it's the DVI cable you must have to use this, and that's why I'm buying it... I have a DVI cable and my TV is DVI, but my cable box has HDMI ... It clearly states in the product description:

"Converts DVI from your source to HDMI display Converts HDMI from your source to DVI display Requires existing DVI cable"

So I'm not sure what all the confusion is about...
