Excellent value for the money if recording voice.Jul 09, 2009
By D. Fichtner Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3JPT84YB57DYM Make sure you're buying the one that includes the battery power pack. I have included an audio sample from the store, which I recorded with my Zoom H4. There was some loud music playing on the speakers, so it'll give you a good idea of how it might sound under such circumstances. The Pro70 battery pack was powering the mic (not Zoom H4's phantom power). I was impressed with the sound of this mic, and the overall quality. It doesn't have the dynamic range of the next model up in the series (the 831b, which I own) but when you switch on the low-cut of the 831b, it and the Pro-70 sound virtually identical. I like this mic, and feel it's a good value for someone looking for a professional XLR mic that has good sound. Again, I find I generall prefer to swich on the "low cut" switch with my 831b anyway, so there's little reason to spend more than this if you're, say, a podcaster or wedding video place looking for excellent audio quality and bang for the buck. By the way, if it sounds a bit overdriven, that's my fault -- not the mic. I had my levels too high.

Audio MicrophoneSep 29, 2011

Since receiving this product I have used it extensively. Its performance is absolutely phenomenal for single user interviews. Even in a crowded hall, the audio quality of the subject is picked up and those around are filtered out (there is some background noise of the crowd but most of it isn't picked up). It uses a single AA battery that lasts forever, I've even left it on in the camera bag and a couple days later I pulled it out and the microphone still operated. This microphone is a must have for any videographer.

This mic works well. Good fidelity for voice, although I haven't used it for instrument recording yet. It is wired, so there are no transmission problems. I am using it for a series of videos for voice recording. It has an XLR connector, not a mini-phono, so use with a small mixer is best (I got a 2 mic channel Mackie 402 VLZ-3).
After a long search, finally found the perfect mic I needed!Feb 11, 2012

I searched for weeks (phone calls to electronic & music stores AND visiting a multitude of websites) trying to find a lavalier mic with it's own battery pack (not phantom power) that delivered high quality sound to use with a standard house system AND with my 1/8" HD camcorder external microphone jack. With this microphone and an XLR female to 1/8" stereo jack adapter I "FINALLY" have the perfect solution to meet my needs. I talked to SO MANY AUDIO & ELECTRONIC PROFESSIONALS who told me that what I was looking for DID NOT exist and that I had to settle for a $29 Radio Shack poor fidelity 1/8" jack microphone. They were ALL WRONG. This is the perfect solution. Quality sound in a quality package. It was a little pricey -- $200+ for the mic and the adaptor and an extra high quality 25' microphone cord, but it is just what I needed for guest speaking engagements and recording videos (to see video recording I did using this microphone go to youtube and cut and paste the following description: "5 Tips: How To Avoid Charitable Giving Scams by Brian Kluth, Generosity Expert & Bestselling Author" - - - - - or got to:[...]be
