Direct Cable ConnectionJun 01, 2008
By George R. Mccombe This is the cable that connects two windows computers together so that one can use the files of the other. It is all that is needed. The software is within the Windows operating system. Unless it was installed in the computers when they were set up, it must be added from the installation disks using the "add programs" feature.
I used it with Windows98.
It usually replaces the printer cable, so that plugging and unplugging is necessary - or a switch can be installed. It reverses the wiring so that this cable can not be used to directly connect to a printer.

4-bit nonsenseFeb 05, 2002
By Dan unless my port configurations are strange, which i'm sure they aren't, this cable is only capable of 4-bit transfers.. that is, around 70k/sec at most. junk compared to universal FAST cables or even 8-bit. you get what you pay for, i guess.

Useless cableAug 26, 2002
The cable does the promised job... only at an annoying slow speed. A 4 bit transfer rate feels like time trip back to the old DOS days. A crossover cable can do a better job however both your machines have to be on the same workgroup. Never tried it with a domain. So if you have to Sync/transfer file to/from your home computer with your work computer you may have to switch back and forth between domain and workgroup.
