5Works Great!Sep 15, 2010

My main TV system (HD, with TiVO and DVD player) is located in the Living Room. I have multiple TV's throughout the house (kitchen, office, bedroom, etc.), but only one TiVO. So I wanted to be able to send the TiVO signal to my other TV's. After some research as to what others were doing, I determined that I needed an RF Modulator, and based on the reviews, I selected the Channel Plus 5425.

But I really lucked out with respect to wiring. Many people have a single cable drop, and have to jump through some hoops trying to push a signal *back* up the cable to other TV's in the home. Fortunately, I live in a locality that originally required what we call "A-B Cable" for cable TV. Basically, instead of a single drop, every room had to have TWO cable drops - an A-side and a B-side. Some channels were delivered on the A-side, while others were delivered on the B-side.

Well, of course, that's long-since gone out of style - but the A/B cable is still there, and only one of the two cables are used with today's modern cable systems. So, I simply connected the output of the Channel Plus to the unused cable drop, added a splitter in the attic to route the signal to the other rooms (again, on the unused cable), attached the cable to the TV's cable input, and voila! I was in business. I can now watch pre-recorded content from my TiVO on any TV in the home! How sweet is that? All I need now is an RF remote control (or extender) for my TiVO, so that I can control it (Play, Pause, Stop, FF, etc.) from another room.

As for the Channel Plus 5425, it's perfect. It was super-easy to set up, and in no time at all, I had it programmed for an unused channel. The video and audio quality are excellent, signal strength is plenty adequate (though not too much). Note that the audio is mono (even though it requires L-R inputs), but I won't miss stereo on these other TV's.

All in all, I'm very pleased. I think it's a great value for the money. It's well-built (metal case - not plastic) and looks nice (black and blends in with my other equipment). It's small, so it's easy to tuck out of the way. If you need a quality RF Modulator that delivers, this is it.

This unit works perfect for my satellite dish set up. I have 2 UHF receivers and with this unit I can set the wiring in my house so I can watch from either receiver from any TV in the house.

This two-channel modulator took all of ten minutes to install and program. I got it for my wife so she could watch DirectTv and the VCR recordings on any TV in the house by tuning into an unused UHF channel. Each input channel can be programmed for a separate UHF frequency. The output is then injected into the antenna cable with a simple cable splitter/combiner. Works great and reception is very clear. Highly recommended if you need something like this.

5Genius. It just works.Feb 20, 2007

I wanted to be able to distribute the programs on my 2 DVRs over my existing cable system so that I could watch programs on any TV in my house. This device was the answer. I put one DVR on each channel and now I am able to do exactly what I wanted to do.

The setup was a breeze, programming was easy and the signal is perfect.

Now I sort of wish I had gotten the 4 channel model, but I guess I can always add another one of these. I will soon be returning the extra cable box to the cable company since I no longer need more than one.

Great product, great price.
