Well Made, Quality AmpDec 13, 2011
By M. Bond I have known ChannelPlus (linearcorp.com) for making quality products, having used their DA-500A amplifier in the past. The DA-506BID appears to be a similarly well made CATV distribution amp.
I decided to upgrade my home CATV distribution to better support digital CATV services (meaning 2-way capable amps). My CATV service enters the home to a 2-way splitter, with one leg going to the Cable Modem and the other to the input of the DA-506BID distribution amplifier. The DA-506ID outputs directly feeds my other TVs in the house, with one of the +4 dB output ("Long Run" outputs) going to a 2-ways splitter feeding a set-top box (STB) and a home network connected M-card DVR (HDHomeRun Prime).
There are four 0 dB ("unity gain" or loss-less splitter) outputs ("short reach") and two +4 db ("long reach") outputs.
The resulting signal levels are all excellent, both for my old analog TVs and my new digital tuners (Clear Channel QAM Digital TVs, cable STB, and HDHomeRun Prime)
Works GreatMay 18, 2008
By Michael J. Titera Able to provide a great picture to 6 TV's using this cable splitter. Must be plugged into a power source.
Great amplifier/distribution systemJul 05, 2007
By Maurice Steinman This device turned out to be ideal for my situation; having recently built an addition on our house, the two cable runs to the addition were much longer than those in the original house, (2 TVs + 1 cable modem). (This device has 6 amplified outputs; 2 have more gain than the other 4 for long runs). Signal strength has been restored with good reception at all end points (we do not have digital cable -- this device cleaned up the signal nicely, while not over-amplifying the signal which I have seen in other devices). Cable modem/return path works fine. Very happy.
Neat and effective Distribution AmplifierMar 11, 2007
By Elwin Reinecke Even though this distribution amplifier is a little expensive it does exactly what the manufacture says it will do. It allows you to do a quite neat installation of a distribution to 6 different Televisions. The amplification is noiseless and operates quite cool so it should last a long time. I would buy it again.
