Stopped working after 2 months, $12 fee to fixJul 13, 2007
By J. Reiner This player stopped working after 2 months of very light use. The warranty is 3 months, but you have to ship the DVD player back to Coby and include a $12 money order to cover the shipping back to you. They will promise to ship you another unit in 4-6 weeks. So if you are willing to spend around $20 along with the hassle of getting the broken unit on its way back to Coby, you can spend the next couple of months hoping they actually send you a functional replacement which will last more than a few weeks.

Waste of money, even if you get it for $5Jan 08, 2008
By V. Ovchinnikov I got this unit on sale tfor $25, not so much bcause it was cheap, but because it was small and I don't have a lot of space in my apartment. As far as looks, COBY DVD-233 has little to offer: the plastic exterior looks very cheap and even unpolished in places.
On the first night, I played three audio CDs and one DVD. While playing CDs, there were skips that I had never heard from other CD players with the same CDs.
Next time I tried to use the unit two days later, it wouldn't play anything, with the message "no disc" or "invalid disc."
It is certainly not worth it for me to send it back (for $12) and try to get it repaired. This purchase was a complete waste of money and time, and I will never buy anything that has "COBY" on it.
Stay away from this company. You might get lucky and get a player that works, but then again, you might not.

Another Flawed UnitSep 23, 2007

"Technologist"
Just as the above reviewer, my unit failed after about 2 months. I don't think it is worth the hassle of the $12 return to Coby, except in principal.
Do not buy this junk, unless you only need to use it a few times, then plan on tossing it.

Temporary/Disposable piece of trashJun 27, 2008
By James Bay Bought 2 of these Coby DVD players 4 months ago and neither of them respond to any input, either manually or by remote. The warranty has expired, mail to Coby has produced no results, repair is more costly than the original price. I am stuck. Please help me put this company out of business by not buying ANY of their products. What a COMPLETE rip-off.
