So so DVD playerOct 26, 2007
By B. Henry I bought this DVD player mainly for the karaoke feature. I was pretty disappointed. The mic had way too much echo and there is no way to reduce it. As for movie playback, the image occasionally flickers. I doesn't happen often enough to make me stop watching a movie but it is rather annoying.
COBY DVD 657Aug 22, 2011
By JimmyK I have been a Karaoke host for 13 years and have been through several Karaoke players. I use the 657 as a backup player and for running background music between singers. It's never failed me,and probably has between 80 and 100 hours of playing time. As mentioned, used as a home unit playing through a TV or home stereo system, the echo is a little annoying, but mine is run through a PMX 6000 powered mixer and it's easy to eliminate the echo as the mics are run through the mixer. It's a great unit for back up in the bars & clubs, and the low price, especially on the web sites, makes it a great buy.
Don't botherApr 28, 2009
By J. D. Letson I was skeptical about other unfavorable reviews on this product, I thought they must have got a bad unit. I am returning mine today, it is a piece of junk. The CD+G skips and tiles on the TV screen, the unit is very slow to load, you have hold the remote 3 feet from the unit and wait a minute for it to respond. I purchased a iVIEW 3000KR for $10 more and it works great so far.

This thing list saying that it is CD+G compatable but is not! The microphone did not work, and if you are planning a party, save yourself the embarrassment.

Great DVD player,BUT when playing Karaoke cds,the MIC always echos/reverbs. Very dissipointed that it does this! To cure the problem you have to purchase a SEPPERATE amplifier that a MIC can plug into. I guess you get what you pay for! I am still happy ,only cuz i paid $26 after shipping for this unit! EXCELLANT PRICE and still worth it!
