Wonderful Flashlight but NOT a RadioApr 14, 2009
By D. M. Morris Despite being named "Weather Ready," this is NOT a Radio/Flashlight combo. It is just a flashlight. It's a wonderful flashlight, though. Bright beam, nice light color. Easy cranking and nice duration of light after winding. Many of the crank lights have weirdly blue beams, or very dim light despite having several LEDs, or a very short usage-span. This one seems to stand out well among the variety. We bought one for our kids to use, since they were always running down the batteries on their flashlight. It worked so well, and was so easy to use, that we bought a second one.

This is a great flashlight to have around the house. With Southern California's history of earthquakes and rolling blackouts, I have the security of knowing we have a spare flashlight that won't require keeping track of spare batteries. Perfect for late dog walks, looking behind the washer/drier, or replacing a lightbulb in the garage. Moreover, those batteries don't have to be recycled. And it takes just a few quick cranks to power the light for several minutes.

a great travel aidNov 14, 2010
By Naomi Wong This crank flashlight was great for traveling to Nepal where we experienced numerous blackouts. I always purchase several to give to my Nepalese friends.

I purchased this in October 2009, cranked it up once and dropped it in a drawer. I have used it a few times and it's still pretty bright on that one and only crank. I paid about $22 for it and now that's down to about $16 I'll buy another for the car. Our electric does go out a lot so we have lots of flashlights and this isn't the one we grab first unless we're in the room it's in when the lights go out. I'm tired of buying batteries I'll feel better knowing the flashlight in the vehicle will never leave me in the dark because of dead batteries. I don't think you can go wrong unless you find it cheaper somewhere else.

Look somewhere else.Nov 02, 2009
By Vic Veetro Why should I bother to take the time to write this for a $12 item? (I bought mine at Target) Because it is an extremely poor excuse for what initially seems like a very nicely designed unit. I have owned 4 of them now hoping that the malfunctioning units were simply a fluke. They aren't. Over time, I've had the switch break, the crank handle fall off the unit, the light bezel falling off in the dark while being used never to be found again.... sure, they guarantee the light and the two I have shipped backed looking for a refund only returned coupons for batteries because the denominations they come in do not allow me to use them to buy a replacement crank flashlight. What a crock. So I now own all these batteries that I will never use and have to go out and find a better quality crank light. Disappointing coming from a long-standing name in American products. Oh right, check the label. More garbage from China.
