A basic but very well designed remote! Setting up was a breeze, I used it on my Visio flatscreen TV and Magnavox DVR. However, codes for Magnavox DVRs did not fit, so I found one from the list of codes for DVD players.
This remote is very lightweight and ergonomic, and does not require a lot of space.

I just needed a replacement for one remote. Really wasn't looking for something that could be coded for multiple machines, but no big deal. I only have it coded for my TV.
You shouldn't require instructions on how to open the back flap to get to the batteries, but I couldn't get it open and ended up snapping a portion of the plastic. I've got plenty of remotes and hand held games. This is the first time I had trouble of this kind. So now I have to tape that black flap in place.
As far as it working - well it mostly works. The keys are easy to see and the remote is simple to operate. You don't need to look to turn it on or change the volume or station once you become familiar with where the buttons are.
But there have been 3 occasions where it seems to have lost the coding for the TV and I had to reenter it. Not a big deal as the coding is rather easy, but it's annoying and I don't know the cause.
So it does what it's supposed to, but I wouldn't purchase it again.

Most universal remote controls sold today are big, ugly, and overly complicated. They also can be rather expensive. This basic GE model #24991 is none of these. It is at least 25% smaller than the average remote control and very lightweight! Despite its noticeably small size, its keys are spaced apart nicely and are intelligently laid out. The ease of setup and compatibility with my components truly impressed me! I can operate my interconnected Panasonic TV, SONY DVD player, and Motorola cable box with this tiny remote control! NOTE: This remote control is designed to control the most basic functions of your TV and cable box such as switching power on and off, changing channels, and adjusting the volume. It also will control the basic functions of your VCR or DVD devices. In my humble opinion, its overall simplicity is one of its strong suits. If what you are looking for is a no-frills, no hassles, reliable, practical universal remote control with real bang-for-the-buck value, then your search is over! Highly recommended!

We needed a replacement remote for our Broksonic LCD TV/DVD in our kitchen and didn't need a remote for 8 pieces of equipment.
This remote is a solid performer! Setup is a breeze and the construction is substantial. Nice small size for our 5 year old to handle. The remote gets heavy usage and comes in contact with sticky and wet hands all the time.

gave it 4 stars cos it didnt have the code for my tv so i had to find it manually but its pretty good and the size is nice, it has all the right buttons
