1WORST PHONE EVER!!!!!Aug 17, 2008
By grrltrouble
This phone is the worst I have ever purchased, and that is saying a lot because I have horrible luck with cordless phones. The sound quality is fine when it works. Do not ever count on it working when you want it too, though. At least half the time I pick it up to make a call, I either get static instead of a dial tone or it will not even turn on at all. It just beeps. It does not matter how far or how close I am to the base. The only way to fix this is to unplug the battery for a couple seconds and then put the phone back on its base. This could be a disaster if there was an emergency and, god forbid, I had to call 911.
The other problem is that sometimes this issue rears its head when receiving calls too. No ring or peep or signal to tell you a call is coming in. My answering machine turns on out of the blue with someone leaving me a message. This no signal/no ring when receiving is not any more consistent then when trying to get a dial tone.
The menu/functions are neither too complicated nor especially simple. I want to be able to program my phones intuitively, and it took a little while to figure some things out on this phone. I have not wasted much time on this sort of thing though because I will be getting a new phone as soon as possible. I haven't even tried the Google 411.
Do NOT buy this phone if you are looking for something that you can make and receive calls on.

5GE Dect 6 28213EE2Feb 06, 2009
By J. Calia
Wow, I was surprised by all the low ratings. I only discovered these ratings after I bought the phone. They must have fixed everything since I just purchased at Target. I love how it lights up when it rings and the do not disturb function is cool. The address book works fine and if you want to find a number quickly just enter the first letter of the name you have it under and it shows up on screen. The google 411 dedicated button is also very handy. I love the modern design. Many phones still have a dated 90's look or are trying too hard to stand out. Overall very satisfied. Will update review if anything changes.

***Update*** 3/13/09 - Phone still working fine. Only thing is the clock loses time & I'm not sure why. I'm currently searching for a resolution. Minus one star for that annoying feature.

1Hands Down - Worst Phone EverFeb 23, 2009
By R. Hypes
I bought this phone thinking "It's from GE, it must be a decent quality." How wrong I was. As with other reviews, half the time the phone just beeps and will not let you call out. I have yet to find a fix for this. I have also had problems with the phone not ringing and going straight to the answering machine. I would not recommend this phone to anyone. Highly overpriced and hardly works.

1Yep, it's as bad as they say...Feb 21, 2009

I don't have much to add to what's already been said about this phone in its various configurations. It looks nice, but it pretty much stops there. And be advised, GE's toll-free customer service only gets you to recordings that eventually direct you to either their website or a non-toll-free number. I sent them an e-mail (which requires providing your name, address, serial number, blood type, etc.), and their e-mail response was to (you guessed it!) call the non-toll-free number! So I called, and after again providing my name, address, serial number, blood type, etc., the person couldn't answer my simple question. I guess this explains why some of their other phone products occupy the bottom three rankings of a certain consumer magazine's recent ratings. The difficult thing to believe is that Google allows its good name to be associated with this product.

1does not ringJan 06, 2009
By Michael Marcinanis
I thought we had done something wrong because one day the phone just stopped ringing i get a light showing an incoming call but the base and handset do not ring. I tried everything to reset the phone, replugging it in and even called the phone company to see if it was a ringer voltage problem but everything checked out ok. It is the phone. I do not know why it is doing this and i see it is not just me there are many complaints about this issue so do yourself a favor avoid this phone at all costs!
