11.5 Gpbs eSATA Cardbus Causes Computer and Seagate 1.5 Terabyte Drive to FreezeDec 27, 2008
By JH
I have an Inspiron 6000, which I purchased from Dell in 2005. I also have a Seagate 1.5 Terabyte FreeAgent XTreme. My computer does not have an eSATA port nor does it have an Expresscard port (otherwise I would have purchased the SIIG, which is highly rated), so I purchased the 1.5 Gps eSATA Cardbus from IOGear. Unfortunately, the IOGear card causes my computer and my harddrive to freeze, requiring me to force a shutdown on both my computer and harddrive. The first freeze up occurred when I opened Windows Explorer immediately after installing the driver for the card. The second freeze up occurred when I was using some software to copy some data to the harddrive. However, when I use a standard USB cable connected directly to my computer from the Seagate, everything works properly.
