Faulty or not compatibleApr 26, 2010
By Kevin Thompson

Purchased since it should support intellicode and code dodger systems such as my 1999 Overhead Door opener. This remote will register but will not open/close the door. I have the ACSCTG Type 1 and GICT390 Genie remotes that work without issue. I even erased the opener's memory and checked the GIFTD-1 frequency but it still does not work. I can only assume I received a defective product since Genie's site claims it's compatible but since it registers, I'm not sure. The opener's lights flash as they should during registration and flash only once when trying to use but nothing happens. I've already received an authorization from Amazon to return the device.
One other note, the GIFTD-1 shows to be a keychain remote but it's rather large for a keychain item and only slighly smaller than the GICT390 model. I bought this remote for my ragtop since I didn't want to leave a remote in a vehicle with easy inside access. Off to the brick and mortar stores to find one that is actually keychain size.

Make sure you don't walk with your keys in your pocket in the houseFeb 09, 2008
By Corky This opener is made for a key chain. I normally keep my keys in my pocket at home. the button on this remote is so touchy that if one of your keys hit it it will open the garage. they should make it where there is a 10 second delay or a dual button (a button with a safety button) or recess the button.

Works as advertised, watch other stuff in your pocketJan 22, 2010
By JaSoN The remote works exactly as advertised. The build quality is quite good. I have had the battery drain pretty fast from sitting down with other crap in my pocket but that's to be expected with any remote with buttons on it that fits on a keychain. Thankfully the range is intended for your driveway and not 10 miles away!

GENIE INTELLICODE MINI REMOTESep 02, 2009
By Know your opener

The Genie Intellicode GIFTD-1BL with Flashlight will not work with older transmitters and receivers(prior to 1997). Your Genie INTELLICODE opener must be 1997 to current. Double check with Genie customer service(1-800-354-3643) to make sure it will work with your unit. There are no Security Code Switches inside the Door Operators, Transmitters, and Receivers.

Small but with a slightly smaller range than full sizeMar 30, 2011

I got this after I ran over my full sized garage opener. It was easy to program the button is recessed so you don't accidentally hit it. It works great, it has a slightly shorter range. Maybe 10 yards shorter than the full size.
