Overpriced with no performance advantageJan 02, 2011
By Charles Monster has built its business on slick marketing. There's typically nothing wrong with the cables they sell, but there's nothing about them that justifies the exorbitant prices asked. The cable is not made in the U.S. It's made in China. And Monster do not provide certificates of performance for their cables. HDMI cables can be certified for Category 1 or Category 2 compliance, and the certification must be made at a specific cable length. Monster only states (without independent verification) that its cables achieve certain bandwidths (which they mislabel as "speed"), but these statements are completely meaningless without specifying the length of cable and without independent testing. The truth is, a 6 foot HDMI cable that costs $3 is going to provide the same reliable bandwidth transmission as a $100 Monster HDMI cable. And if you need a longer cable then you need specific certification of bandwidth at the length you use. For such purposes, you can get a 15 foot cable certified to maximum HDMI bandwidth (Category 2) for $35. And for the price that Monster wants for this 13 foot cable, you can get a cable certified to Category 2 bandwidth that is 40 feet long. If you want to educate yourself about the technical details of HDMI cables, check the white papers on HDMI at blue jeans cable.

Overpriced and feeding on consumer ignorance!Aug 28, 2010
By windriver12 It says "advanced" in the product name. So it's got to be worth the inflated price. Plus, if I spend a thousand dollars on a TV, then I shouldn't skimp on the cable. This is exactly the kind of thinking that Monster preys on.
Don't buy into the hype the sales people at Big Box stores or Monster feeds you. Folks, there is no need to spend this over inflated price on an HDMI cable.
There is an article in NY Times on June 10, 2009 about how to tweak your HDTV to make it perform at its best. The article specifically advises readers not to be tempted to spend too much on cables. It also quotes industry expert Joe Kane. His advice: "Cheap cables that cost 75 cents per foot work as well as those that cost $100 per foot," said Mr. Kane. "With the latest HDMI cables, if you see a picture and hear the sound, you know it works."

Don't fall for Monster Cable marketingSep 05, 2010
By Art Vandelay Think about running a USB cable from your computer to your printer -- have you gotten sharper, clearer prints from a fancier cable? Of course not. The information either passes through or it doesn't.
From the reviews on this page, looks like a few people got taken in by Monster's marketing BS and spent far too much on their cables. HDMI is a *digital* standard. It's not analog. The signal either carries or it doesn't and there's error correction built in to the devices that use HDMI. Save your money.
Don't Waste Your MoneyMay 21, 2012
By Customer This cable did not improve, in any respect or to any degree, video or audio quality - in fact, the consensus of those who contrasted this with the standard cable supplied by Comcast was that the Monster cable actually degraded the video image. In my judgement, all the claims made for the superior performance of "high-end" video cables is nothing but snake-oil hype. If you are, nonetheless, tempted by these or similar cables, at least arrange an in-home audition that will allow you to return the cable if you're not satisfied. But the best advice I can give you is DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
