4Works just perfect to pick up HD signalJan 10, 2008
By Frances Wa
I live in the most NW part of Chicago about 12 miles away from downtown Chicago where the main transmission towers are.

We just bought 2 new HDTVs for our house and we have DirecTV but I didn't want to upgrade to their HD-DVR box yet because 1) they want $300 per box and 2) their equipment is junk. I am holding out to see if the TIVO-HD boxes, which are far superior in quality, will eventually work with satellite and not just cable. So, in the meantime, I thought I would try this antenna to see if I could pick up the HD OTA (over the air) signal for my local channels. This little guy works just great! You can't go wrong for the price! You just plug it into the antenna input on your TV and tell it to auto-search for channels.

One of the best things about this antenna is that although it includes a 6' coax cable, the cable is NOT permanently attached to the antenna so you can attach a longer cable if you want to. When I first scanned for channels with the 6' cable, I picked up 30 channels (12 analog and 18 digital). After I attached a longer cable run, repositioned the antenna higher up and near a window; I rescanned and picked up over 40 channels. This was in a basement where our family room is located. It immediately picked up 40+ channels on the first floor of our single story home the first time out. One caveat, you will not pick up Channel 2(CBS) in either analog or HD because it is next to impossible to get in Chgo with an antenna.

4Not badAug 21, 2008

I got this thing about 3 years ago, when I got my first HDTV and... well, it outlasted the 32" Samsung Slimfit CRT HDTV I got it for. I'm still using it in north Austin, TX. Picks up NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, CW, two versions of PBS, and some random crap I didn't store on my tv like home shopping network and Telemundo. The HDTV programming is flawless about 95% of the time... I get some glitches one one of the channels, but that's probably because the rabbit ears aren't tuned in perfectly. I live in a 2nd floor apartment, and it does seem to perform better there than when I lived in an apartment that was on a downward slanting hill. It's on top of my bookcase right now, and aside from it taking up a lot of space (the antennas, not the base), I don't have any major complaints. Both the coaxial cable and AC adaptor wire can unplug from the back, which makes it pretty easy to move around and set up in different spots to test it out.

I could've sworn being plugged in made it an amplified antenna, but I could be wrong.

4digital antennaDec 29, 2008
By Missy
Being at least 25-30 miles from the major television signals, I figured this would work great. It didn't give a total clear picture, but enough for me to view all stations. I do however at times have to adjust antenna in different positions to get a decent signal. Had another RCA rabbit ear antenna & worked great on an analog tv. That's why I purchased this model.

5Free HDTV in the AirApr 08, 2008
By E. Davalos "SoftballChicago"
My review may be a little biased since I live in downtown Chicago, less than 3 miles west of the towers without any obstructions. Low cost, great results, it's tied into my HDTV DirecTv receiver box to get all the other free local HDTV stations that HDTV doesn't offer.

4Good AntennaJan 06, 2011
By JustACustomer
We bought this antenna because we did not want to pay for cable (we pretty much just watch the basic channels anyway). It has proven to be a reliable and convenient solution for all of our needs.
