3Not a full retail packageJun 19, 2009
By Fred "Fred"
Beware of this Jabra bt 530 sold by ShopCell. It is not the full retail package and does not come with the USB charging cable nor does it come with the extra ear gels.

4Nice HeadsetOct 31, 2008
By R. Masci
Doesn't block the sound as well as the Jawbone, it more or less reduces the background noise. The headset is comfortable and I've been able to wear it on long three or four hour conference calls. The ear gels allow you to use the headset without the ear hook which is great for short calls 5 - 10 min in length which is nice for those who don't want to look like a borg because you can keep the headset in your pocket and stick it in when the phone rings. I've found that on longer calls you'll want the earhook in.

The ability to play music from my blackberry curve works great at work as it's just in one ear, and to me it's like having background music. I don't even have to turn it off when a co-worker starts to talk to me.

All in all this is a nice headset thats worth the money. If you're looking for a comfortable headset that will reduce the background noise of the cube farm you work in, and play back ground music to mute them out when your off the phone, this headset will work for you.

4I Like This Headset A Lot!Feb 10, 2009
By Lawrence McPhail "consutant"
I purchased this headset both as a back-up and to have a headset that would be better in the car or when I am out where there might be some background noise.

I have a Plantronics Voyager 520 to use in my office where it is quiet. The 520 is larger, has a bright flashing LED, but is very comfortable, about the best sounding headset that you can buy and not expensive.

The Plantronics has a single microphone and I do not expect it to perform as well as a headset with dual microphones that is specifically designed for noise canceling.

I note that noise canceling headsets I have tried seem to eliminate noise at the expense of quality sound so I figured on owning two headsets.

Many headsets do not have sufficient earpiece volume to hear when there is background noise. The Jabra has excellent volume, much better than most.

The "Noise Blackout" feature on the Jabra BT530 is a bit of an overstatement, you can still hear the noise in the background but your voice will cut over it fairly well. It is effected by wind noise but this is also true of other sets I have tried like the BlueAnt V1, they all seem to get choppy to some extent.

The headset IS comfortable, it is small and lightweight and does not flop around, I find that I prefer it to the Plantronics for this reason when I am walking around.

I find flashing LED's on headsets to be annoying and serve no purpose whatsoever.

The Jabra LED doesn't flash let all the time, when you turn it on, it will flash for about 30-seconds and then shut off. When you are on a call it will flash for the same short period and stop flashing and when it does flash, it is just a blue light through a small slit, not bright and annoying.

It is because of these reasons and the sound quality, that I usually put on the Jabra BT530 and keep using it all day, easy to forget that I am wearing it.

I tried the Jawbone II first, with different eargels, over the course 3-hours, sitting at a table holding a regular conversation, the Jabra kept popping out of my ear every 5 or 10 minutes so I never got to the point of testing it. It doesn't make any difference how good a headset performs if it won't even stay in your ear! No problems with the BT530 here, I like the ear "scoop" type of eargel on the Jabra.

Incoming sound quality of the Jabra is good but sometimes lacks a bit of brightness.

Included is USB cable charger that uses a standard micro USB (along with an AC charger). Battery life for talk time is excellent.

The on/off switch is easy to use as are the volume up/down buttons. The multifunction answer button is easy to push but it is smaller than on most headsets and will take a couple of days getting used to finding its exact position in between the volume buttons but is not a issue.

Multipoint technology works well with both of my phones. All in all the BT530 is very convenient and easy to use. Price had no part concerning my purchasing decision, I was looking for noise canceling, period.

The BT520 seems to work at least as well as any of the top noise canceling headsets I have tried and a lot less expensive, $66 through Amazon.

I did not expect that I would use it all day long as I had expected to use my Plantronics as my main headset, but I like wearing it. Another bonus is that you do not have to talk loud to be heard by the other party.

I would like to try and compare the new Motorola's, like the H15 or the H780 to see how they perform. I answer 800 number toll-free lines during the day on my cell phone even when I am not at my desk so the quality of the headset sound and comfort are most important to me, not price.

I find that I can not award 5-stars to any headset yet for noise cancellation as the technology does not appear to be there yet. This seems to be due to the lack of having a microphone close to your mouth where the sound is going to be much louder than by your ear. When this is taken into consideration, most bluetooth headsets do a respectable job of just being a microphone, noise rejection is a much harder issue...

For just a few dollars more through Amazon than for an entry level headset, if you are looking for a headset for daily wear while on the move, the Jabra is an excellent value for your money. If you wear a headset while sitting at a desk, where it is relatively quiet and want the best comfort and best conversation quality, I recommend the Plantronics Voyager 520 for ablut $20 less.

3Shopcell is false advertising!Jun 19, 2009
By Raymond Ratajczak
I own a BT530 that I purchased from a retail location. It included a wall charger, USB cable (for charging), extra gels and an extra ear hook. This order from shopcell.com had a lot less. It was in Verizon packaging that was not sealed and contained a wall charger. Nothing else! Not even the ear gels that allow you to wear it without the ear hook. So I am less then satisfied with what I received.

4Things I would have liked to know...Feb 25, 2009
By $ko7
WoW a headset that does what it clams! So far i'm really digging it, seems to do what it says it can, depending on your own definition of what Anti/Noise/Background/Reduction nonsense is. the first time i used it, I was talking to someone while watching TV. they were at a sale at a circuit city store. we could hear each other just fine. haven't gone out to a bar or club with it yet so we'll see how it works under that kinda pressure at somepoint (nothing seems to work in places like that).

under normal, every day type calls, no problems.

things you should know, if your phone has mp3 player abilities, you can listen to them with it. it works from pretty far away too. i was at the other end of the house from the phone and walked outside and closed the sliding glass door. it still worked! until i stepped about a foot away. the sound is very clean and crisp. doesn't work as well going up, meaning...

i set the phone on my desk, walked about 12 or so feet away and up a standard flight of stairs. by the time i crossed the threshold at the top i lost signal.

it comes with a usb charger cord (very short) and an ac power cord. charge it for 2 hours before using it the first time. all the ear gels it comes with seem to be the same, so keep that in mind.

and yes, this is the same headset you see at cell phone stores for $99.99 and up. it's the black box with yellow clipart.
