AWESOME!!Jul 26, 2010
By Robert Bray I am a Pro Tools editor that uses my Kensington Si650 ENDLESSLY DAILY!! My first one (3 years old) just ran its course and I had to replace it with a new one. I went 3 days without it and nearly lost my mind!! Once I got the replacement, I was able to breathe again. It's small, quick, has great battery life - even without removing the USB to save battery life - I couldn't recommend this mouse more.
We have two and they both work great!Jan 11, 2010
By Nancy Combs I have had this mouse for over two years and never had a problem with it. It works great, fits my hand perfectly, and I like the fact that I can switch it off to save on my batteries when I'm not using it. I'm surprised that the two previous reviewers have had problems, but I think it's unfair to give a review on a product when you've had it less than a day and haven't contacted support first to find out if it may just be user error. It's possible the freezing was just due to bad placement of the receiver. There were no follow-up reviews posted after support was contacted so we'll never know. My husband has the same mouse and has had no problems, either. I highly recommend this mouse--especially for a laptop.
Works great, when it works...Aug 28, 2007
By L. Olson I just purchased this mouse today. I inserted the wireless USB receiver, and it was recognized instantly on my HP Pavilion wide screen laptop. I also installed the software that came with it, but made no adjustments to the default settings. The software also logged on to the Kensington website and downloaded the latest upgrade.
Ten minutes later the mouse locked up. Just froze on the screen. Nada. To get it working again I had to remove the wireless USB receiver, wait for the beep, then plug it back in. Works great again. I would say it locks up about once every 5-10 minutes of use.
Steps taken -
Uninstall and re-istall; no help Restart my laptop; no help Tried different ports; no help Tried deviating from defualt settings; no help Removed icon from tray; no help
I now have a ticket in to Kensington support. I could have taken it back for a refund or an exchange, which I would normally do. But this time I decided to try the company support approach, which gives this mouse a 5-year warranty, by the way. Let's see how they do.
By the time it took me to write this review, the mouse has locked up twice.
Other than that, I like the feel of the rubber grips, and how it fits in my hand. Entry into the battery and USB receiver storage is easy, not like other mice I've had, where you have to struggle to open it. You can save battery power by inserting the USB device to shut it off, or simply just opening the hinged battery cover.
I want to give it high ratings, but can't until this "Lockup" issue is resolved.

We bought one at CompUSA, and unfortunately they are going on of business and have a 'no return' policy. (I would have bought from Amazon, but we needed one immediately for a presentation.) It is broke. Putting in the batteries occasionally causes the mouse to blink (not every time, just sometimes) but it never actually turns on. I will have to take it apart and see if I can fix it. As of right now, it's a paperweight and we can't return it.
