OopsDec 04, 2010
By o27cowboy No problems with the order and shippment. Arrived quick and intact. Although the box is 14x14, the cover for the box that I received fit on the box in only ONE direction. I installed and wired this box, then found out that I would have preferred to have the printing on the cover in a different direction.
The cover has an embossed "Leviton" that ends up vertical when the box is installed as shown in the instructions. If you carefully look at the product image, you can see the embossed name on the upper right portion of the cover. Seems a bit trivial, but if you are going to use this box inside your home, temporarily put the cover on and decide how you would like the box and cover oriented. Then you should to determine if the internal knockout holes will work for your application.

The Amazon dimensions are different from the original product, they should correct this. Correct size is 14 3/8 by 14 inches

Cheaper than elsewhere...Oct 20, 2011
By Jake Thorn It does the job... It cost less through Amazon than at Home Depot. I wish it were cheaper but its the cheapest I was able to find it. As a home hub, it works well. The accessories are all overpriced though.
solid quality, door not hingedFeb 17, 2012
By Tojam1689 The box is of nice sturdy quality steel. However, the door does not hinge and must be screwed on/off, making servicing the panel quite a hassle.
It's a fine metal box, but with a mediocre cover.Oct 04, 2011
By Bryce I bought a Leviton 14" box about two years ago to use surface-mounted. Two of the slots in the lid are keyhole and can slip on and off over the screw heads, but the other two are simple shaft-sized holes and the screws have to be inserted and removed if you want the cover to be reasonably secure (and the included screws are about 1" long, tedious without pulling out a power driver); this compares to a 28" enclosure by a different maker that I have where all four holes are keyhole slots and the lid fits reasonably snug without having to adjust the screws at all. When I received it, one of the cover screw thread holes appeared to be entirely the wrong thread and wouldn't take any of the four cover screws provided, and since it appeared to be a hardened nut welded on to the back of the sheet metal there wasn't any chance of re-threading it, so (since I didn't discover this until I was past the return period) I decided I'd use that for one of the non-slot screw holes and get by with 3 screws; besides, then I only had to insert/remove one screw. Unfortunately, that only lasted a few months until that screw jammed during removal, and after several attempts at getting it out the screw finally broke (!), leaving two of the four cover screw holes unusable. After that experience, I won't use a cover that doesn't either have all slots or a hinge and latch.
