1USELESS!Jun 08, 2007
By Sandy Rhoad "Insatiable reader"
I bought this because of the high star ratings by other purchasers. I was misled. I live in rural SC and have lots of "critters" that creep at night. I put it on the corner of the garage so I wouldn't be surprised by bobcats, fox, armadillo or SNAKES. I sent the dogs out last night to check it - it came on -- if you are standing under it and don't squint. The circle of light, which is so dim you couldn't see a bobcat standing in it, was only about 2 feet around. It was comparable to a flashlight that needs new batteries. I am more than disappointed. It cost $28 plus postage. So where is it now -- in my back hallway for guests who need to use the second bathroom. A PIECE OF JUNK!

5great battery-powered lightJan 09, 2007
By Ryan Bishop "Master Ryan"
i needed a porch light for a house i'm renting. the porch doesn't have any power wires or outlets so i was using solar-powered LEDs. unfortunately the porch doesn't get much sun, so those lights never worked well.

i saw these battery-powered motion sensor lights on a tech review site and had to get one. the thing took 5 minutes to install above my door and lights up when i'm 20 feet away. its bright enough to see the whole area around my door, including the keyhole on my door. i'd buy another if i had another porch!

5Exactly what I wantedFeb 07, 2007
By CJ
It's surprisingly bright. Sensor has a wide angle so it turns on well in advance of when I need it. Has turned on when covered in snow. There is a warning about it not working well in very cold temps but it has held up to below zero temps so far.

My only complaint is esthetic. The design is fine but in person it looks very cheap, which is too bad because its performance is anything but.

1False AdvertisingJan 04, 2009

This is the worst piece of junk I have ever been suckered into buying. We bought this with the reasonable hope it could light the outdoor stoop when we came home - not even close! It is shameful that this device is allowed to be marketed and sold. Take a look at the picture - only those four specks of light under what "looks" like the bulb (but is not) emit a pale LED glow dies almost instantly. The fairest analogy I can make is using this device is like trying to light your room with a cell phone.

5Lights the way, however dimlyAug 23, 2009
By Giselle Springer-Douglas "Child of the World"
I installed this myself along the walkway to my front door. Aside from the light directly above my front door, the walkway was incredibly dark and I did not like going outside at night when I let my dog out or needed to take the garbage can to the curb.

I purchased 2 of these lights to install along the long walkway. The installation took a mere 5 minutes each. Because my electric screwdriver's battery was dead, I used a manual screwdriver and, for that reason, only used 2 of the 4 screws that came with each of the units I purchased. Despite only having used half of the screws, the units feel sturdy and don't look like they're going anywhere.

By the way, if you're installing this on a gate post, you need not use screws and can, instead, use the 2 plastic ties that come with the product. The ties can secure the light by being threaded through the base of the light, and then wrapped around a post.

The lights work as expected and emit a dim spotlight in a smallish area below the light itself (see the photos I uploaded). The fact that the lights aren't terribly bright does not bother me, however, as there are other houses quite near me and I'd rather not have bright lights shining into my neighbors' windows.

The lights seem to pick up motion about 5 to 10 feet from the unit and, so far, seem quite reliable. My house is light-colored so the white lights match rather nicely.

They do exactly what I needed them to do and I feel less anxious about walking outside late at night to take the dog out.
