Does not work for my Canon BP-809 batteryOct 05, 2010

I received this item and it had a charging plate purporting to be for the Canon BP-809 battery. I placed my battery into the charger and it fit well, but I noticed the LED was green, which is supposed to indicate full charge and the battery is not charged. Upon closer inspection I found the problem. On the charging plate the positive and negative terminals are wired opposite to my battery. This plate has the (+) terminal on the battery going to the (-) position on the charging plate and vice versa. I can only hope this hasn't destroyed my battery.
The idea of a universal charger for many different batteries is a good one, but unfortunately it won't work for me due to the polarity mismatch on the pins. If you're ordering this planning to charge a Canon BP-809, look at the underside of the battery with the pins at the top. If yours reads +DT- from left to right, this charger will NOT work for you.

Incompatible Canon chargerNov 01, 2009

I purchased this to use with a Canon HF10 battery as the supplied charger was too bulky. Despite assurances, this did not work with the original battery. Supplier replaced with a different model which did work, but randomly reported battery information on the camcorder. Will probably try a different solution as this is just not reliable enough.
