By Mr_Engineer Build quality: The cable has a nice heavy feel with good rubber on the outside. The tip is indeed split, works fine. It appears to be gold-plated. The cover shell unscrews and slides back, allowing you to inspect the cable to tip connection. It has a bright silver color to it and feels like thin metal. One reviewer said his was plastic. *shrug* This one works just fine. The outer jacket has fingers that "bite" into the connector, giving an excellent connection. Fortunately the serrations are machined smooth, so it has not scarred my connector yet. Still, I suspect plugging/unplugging the tip multiple times may cause damage. Monster does recommend rotating the plug clockwise while plugging/unplugging. Also interesting to note is that this cable has a "polarity". If I understand this correctly, only one end of the cable shield is grounded. As an engineer, this makes perfect sense, as it will prevent ground loops in the shield that would pick up noise. Look for the arrow on the cable. The arrow should point towards your subwoofer (direction of signal flow).
Usage: I was using a 3ft RCA cable to test the sub before I received this. Not only does the sub sound louder with this cable, it is also clearer. The 26ft length is absolutely essential when figuring out where to place the sub.
Other things to note: my package came with a beefy feeling Y-splitter (female to 2 male plugs). This allows me to take the single LFE out of my amplifier and feed the L/R RCA jacks on the back of my sub. According to my sub manual it doesn't make a difference, but it makes me happy.
Price: this cable is expensive. Still, it is worth the peace of mind knowing you are getting a quality, reliable product.
Does the job fine, but ...Mar 19, 2012

Expensive A/V cables are a contentious subject, but more often than not I spend a little extra for piece of mind even though it may not be necessary in all cases. This cable does the job fine, but I have to say it does seem of cheaper construction than previous Monster audio cables I have purchased. The connecter housing is made of plastic, not metal like all of my other previous Monster audio cables. Therefore, I'm a little disappointed in this cable even though I haven't experienced issues as a result.
Excellent subwoofer cableSep 29, 2011
By jmrrice I bought this cable for its length so I could put my subwoofer in a more optimal position. I was pleasantly surprised when I hooked it up to hear that it actually made the subwoofer sound more crisp. I couldn't be happier with my purchase! Don't hesitate if you are thinking about buying one.
Good Length, Good PriceSep 12, 2011
By mammoth61 This is a good subwoofer cable. I don't know what else I could say about it, except that I have used this cable to its full length many times. I didn't honestly think I would use the whole length, but I've been mistaken on many occasions with many setups. If you are a college student, like me, or someone who does a lot of moving, you want a cable like this that is a long length, because you never know how much cable you'll need for each of your setups, and it's better to have too much, than too little, usually. If you get too excessive with the cable, you can lose quality in some cases. I got this on sale for around $30, which was a good price compared to a lot of other similar length cables. I would definitely recommend this to a friend, family member, or anyone who just does a lot of moving (again, college students with a speaker setup).
Lives up to the nameJun 12, 2011
By jdstuff32 This cable lives up to it's name! I've been very pleased with it's performance so far. I'm running many other cables and wires next to this one and the shielding definitely protects the integrity of the sound from my receiver to the subwoofer.
