3Warning - Panasonic FZ18 Takes A Different AdapterNov 16, 2007
By Richard Keir "rdkeir"
This isn't really a review of the DMW-LA2 so much as a heads up. If you buy the DMW-LT55 teleconverter for the Panasonic Lumix FZ18, you'll get a reminder that "People who bought this also bought the DMW-LA2". Don't buy this one if you have the new FZ18!

The DMW-LA2 is the correct adapter for the FZ7 but NOT to the FZ18. The FZ18 needs the DMW-LA3, and the "3" isn't available in the US as of mid-November 2007 (supposedly available by the end of November).

5Solid 55mm Adapter, if you need itAug 14, 2007
By W. Peng
If you want to use 55mm lens or filter, then DMW-LA2 is for you. However, the FZ8 (the one I own) comes with 52mm adapter. Unless you really want to use Panasonic wide or telephoto lens (only 55mm), you don't need it.

However, the feel of the material is very good. It is thicker than the included adapter, so I feel safe to attach heavier lens.

Moreover, you can not use included lens hood with this (included lens hood is for included 52mm adapter).

5Get thisMay 11, 2009
By Steven M. Wilson "Skuba"
If you have gotten the Lumix, you need this adapter. I have taken pictures that are better than my $1000 SLR using this camera and this adapter. You can use any professional filters or teleconverters and make some great images. It is made very well and strong, and makes the Lumix very versitile and I believe is a must have.

5Sturdy AdapterAug 29, 2006
By Tahir J. Naim
Update: Guess there's more I could've said as Amazon doesn't say much about it. Thankfully, one person has more of a sense of humor. Figured the only people who'd be viewing this would already know its purpose. And so, without further ado, this adapter allows your FZ7 to be used with the telephoto, macro and wide angle lenses (55mm threading to the FZ7's 52.8mm) that Panasonic makes for the FZ20 and the like. I see it's labeled for the FZ7 and other reviewers have noted it's no good or unnecessary for the FZ8 and FZ18. The sturdiness is important as you don't want it cracking unexpectedly especially with the tele attached. Guess I've had it almost 2 years now and it's been on the camera (with a 55mm Panasonic filter on it) since I bought it. The lens cover for the FZ7 fits alright if just a little loose.

Original: There's really not much else to say. Perhaps I can review a hex nut next. ;-)
