Digital CoversionMar 02, 2009
By Mark K I bought this product in anticipation of the Feb 17 analog to digital conversion. It was exactly what I needed in terms of price, specifications and size. It was simple to install, and delivers an excellent signal.

This antenna is a good buy. I replaced this one with my RCA antenna. It received more HDTV channel than before and I don't have to keep turn it to aim to the station you want to watch. I live in San Jose area, you just put in one place, for one direction, that's it never have to aim it again. I am please Philips make such good antenna with resonable price.

Has a cheap feel and poorly manufacturedAug 27, 2008

This product is very flimsy. It has no weighting in the base and topples easily. Be sure and check the dimensions as the base is bigger than I expected. It seems it would have had a better impact on reception for VHF (channels: 2-13) given its being used in a 3rd-story apartment on a hilled area in the North Dallas metroplex. The outer (VHF) antenna elements are black (painted or plated) making me wonder if they conduct electricity well enough to actually work when fully extended. Perhaps the signals are just weak at this location, but I doubt that considering Dallas is a major-market TV area.
Looks like it ought to work great, except that it doesn't.Oct 30, 2011
By Marduk I paired this with a digital-to-analog converter box and at best got distorted reception on the several digital channels in my area.
I then tried using a 10+ year old simple dipole wire antenna which came with a cheap CD/AM/FM stereo system, wiring it to a 75-ohm coax adapter so I could plug it into the converter. This resulted in ALL the local channels within reach coming in crystal clear.
Waste of money. It looks futuristic, almost like a flying saucer, but all it ended up taking off with was my money.
UselessOct 14, 2009
By Arthur N. Sanborn One channel only. I moved it outside just to see if it would get more and it still got one only.
