5small excellent quality TV speakersNov 16, 2011
By Donald E. Feltz
My new HDTV had poor performance speakers. I disconnected the speakers and externally
wired in a pair of Pyle Home PCB4BK 4Inch 200 Watt Mini Cube Bookshelf Speakers. The
sound is great. These speakers are small enough to be positioned in the space between
the TV base stand and the bottom of my TV. They are not obvious as being add-on speakers.

4Not too bad....Feb 05, 2009
By Blockhead "Too much Internet..."
Not as crispy and clear as my original satellites on my JVC system. But they can handle the power. Well engineered but too boomy for my taste. Good value for the price.

3About what you should expectJul 29, 2011
By James Wilson
I build my own home speakers, so I purchased these strictly to use as a "test bed" for various drivers. Basically I'll disassemble them, take out the driver Pyle has in there now and replace it with other drivers that I'm interested in evaluating (that's a lot faster and easier then building your own test cabinets). I did, however, run them for a few hours before they were "sacrificed".

Obviously you can forget bass. The size of the driver and cabinet precludes even the slightest pretense at bass, but I imagine there's no one foolish enough to think otherwise. The midrange has decent presence, but surprisingly the treble is weak. Bear in mind I only ran them for 10 hours (maybe even less) so that might have improved over time -- as speakers are wont to do -- but I was a little surprised how lacking it was. There wasn't much in the way of sizzle. Considering there's a whizzer cone, which is specifically designed to focus the high frequencies and aid in their disbursement, I would have thought the top end of the frequency spectrum would have been a bit more pronounced then it turned out to be. Maybe with more time on them it would have been, but I can't say for certain.

Bottom line is these are probably exactly what you think they are, based upon the price; small, inexpensive, non-hi fidelity speakers used for near-field listening. Temper your expectations and they should be fine.

5One Mounting SolutionMar 22, 2010
By BF "0bfk0"
My mounting position is at the ceiling and I wanted the speakers to angle down somewhat. I secured large cup hooks to the ceiling, about an inch from the wall, and hung the speakers from them. They angle down at about 15 degrees, with their lower edges resting against the wall. I was planning on adding padding where they touch the wall, but the they're heavy enough so I didn't need it.

I'm giving these 5 stars, not because I'm claiming they're high quality speakers, but because they are exactly what they were advertised to be. I had a couple of difficult-to-tune dead spots in the weirdly shaped room where my 7.1 system is living. They don't come anywhere near the presence of the system's MC1 Magnepans, but not 1 person in 100 will be able to pick up on the difference (including me). These were perfect for the job, disappear into the ceiling and were inexpensive as well.
