Pyle Home 8 inch speakerNov 09, 2009
By J. Keeney Ease of installation is great. These sound fantastic. Great value. I had these installed and working in 35 minuntes start to finish. Templates were provided to cut holes in the sheetrock- worked perfect. Took longer to vaccuum the sheetrock dust than the actual install.

Efficient but sound quality could be better.Jan 05, 2012
By Roger Lew The high efficiency of these speakers makes them easy to power. I'm using a 1 watt TDA2822M chipamp and it provides plenty of power for them. The grill is nice looking and easy to install, although taking the grill off is a bit of a pain. To my ears the sound quality out of the box is nearly unlistenable. The thin plastic cabinet contributes way to much distortion to the sound. Even watching youtube was painful... Since mine were in an attic I was able to reuse some 1.5 cubic foot MDF enclosures that I had laying around. Even then, they still didn't sound that great until I added a 10 band EQ to tame the overdamped bass response and a resonance at 1 kHz. I also used the EQ to compensate for the treble roll-off. With new cabinets and EQ they sound decent. Given the price I'm satisfied with them. They still don't have any real bass, but that is expected given their bandwidth and efficiency.
Pyle Home 8" in-wall speakerMay 24, 2012
By Rod It is a nice speaker especially for the price point. It was perfect for what I needed at the time, replacing the driver in a 1927 RCA Radiola speaker. Because of the price, I did not expect the highest quality in the market but I did get a decent speaker. I'm sure it would have sounded better had I actually mounted it in the wall. The "enclosure", that it is mounted in, is removable and does NOT seal the back of the speaker. It uses the wall to act as a large sounding board to help amplify the bass. When mounting it in the wall, it would be a good idea to add insulation above and below the speaker to prevent a "hollow" sound.
DO IT YOURSELFMar 14, 2012
By Jameson If you have ever installed a ceiling fan the wiring in the speaker has about the same difficulty rating in my opinion, its a do it yourselfer, i can't see any need for a professional to be involved since your not dealing with high voltage and there's only a couple wires to deal with. The hardest part is cutting a perfect circle with a sheetrock saw, but even sheet rock is forgiving and can be touched up with a little spackle. Don't be intimidated you can do it and the reward is worth the effort.
