Sounds good for lower qualityFeb 15, 2010
By D. Buchter I received these speakers about a week ago and installed them right away. The first thing to note is that they DO come in pairs - I was not sure about this because I did not see this information anywhere. Needless to say, I ordered two, but I have a place for the other pair as well. Anyway, for anyone that knows anything about speakers, looking at the actual hardware, you can tell that these are not high-end components. The most disconcerting issue is that they do not have standard speaker wire connectors. I'm not sure what the technical term is for the connectors, but basically they are just metal tabs that I believe are meant of soldering your wires onto... this is stupid and they should change this, but I just cut extra exposed wire from my speaker cables and wrapped the wire around them tightly - it worked fine. The packaging came with a wall template for cutting the hole in your drywall - this was very useful. Also, the speaker frames that lock into the wall work very well. The installation other than the wiring was very easy. And the bottom line, I think the speakers sound very good. I am not using these speakers in my home theater set-up - I have some fairly expensive Boston Acoustics speakers for that. I have these set up in another room. Stand-alone, they don't have the best bass - a subwoofer would fix this, but as secondary speakers in a whole house set-up, it all sounds good. I think they would work pretty well in a home theater set-up as well, but like I mentioned, you will need a subwoofer.

Not for AudiophilesSep 06, 2010

I have installed two sets of these now. For main speakers of a basic system, or surround sound speakers they are more than adequate for the average home user. If you are looking for speakers that will blow you away, you should probably look at speakers that cost more than $40 for a pair. In my case I am using them as surround sound speakers for a basic basement system, and they work just fine for that.
There are a few things to keep in mind if you opt to buy a set of these.
1) The speakers come assembled as they will be after you have mounted them in the wall; So you have to dis-assemble them before you can mount them. Removing the grill, and remove the speakers from the mounting bracket by removing the six small screws that holds them together. You have to do this in order to actually use the mounting system.
2) Instead of traditional speaker connections like you find on floor speakers, they have male quick connect spade terminals, so you can either pick up a pack of the female crimp on ends at your local Radio Shack or AutoZone, or you can solder your wires directly on the terminals. I opted to solder mine on for the best possible connection.
3) If you want to paint your speaker grill and mounting bracket a different color than white you can easily do that before you mount them. I recommend spray paint that is safe to use on metals and plastics. My second set is nice dark gray now.

Good Speakers for the priceMar 25, 2010
By Harbi For the $ these speakers are nice. Installation is easy, and fairly fool-proof. I installed 6 in about 3 hours (the wiring was alreay in place). The speakers do come in pairs. They are NOT high-end speakers. To connect the speaker wires, you have to wrap them around connection tabs, versus the normal "insert the wire in to the black or red connection point". Overall, I'm happy with them.
Good speakersMay 18, 2012
By Mr. Moten I bought these to use for rear surround. They sound really good considering the price. They exceeded my expectations. The install was really easy and fast. The instructions are simple and straight forward. I am going to install more throughout the whole house
Product Not as Described & Poor Customer ServiceMar 26, 2012
By Moran615 Product is listed as "Directable 1/2'' Polymer Dome Tweeter" but received the item and it is NOT a directable tweeter. Upon taking the product out of the box I saw the tweeter was not directable as it stated on the product list and the product box. I contacted the manufacturer regarding this as well as the missing speaker connection terminals. I was told directable tweeter was a misprint on the box, Pyle website, and within the Amazon product description?? Their only solution was to upsell me to a speaker with a directable tweeter. Told to directly solder the wires to the speakers, however, they could not direct me to which leads to solder to. Not a bad speaker for the price but the product description is not accurate.
