 Great sound quality and features, but no voicemail indicator for external voicemailMay 13, 2008

This was the only DECT 2-line phone I could find for our small business. The sound is MUCH better than my old 5.8GHz 2-line phone. The console has a handy, sturdy plastic stand that keeps the base at an angle that makes it easy to read the console for speed dial numbers, speakerphone, etc.
My main disappointment is that although you can turn the answering machine function off so you can use voicemail supplied by your phone company, the console has no light that indicates when you have waiting messages if you are using external voicemail. You'll need to listen to the receiver (or speakerphone on the console) every now and then for the voicemail stutter alert to check on waiting messages. If a voicemail indicator light for an external voicemail service had been included, I would have ranked the phone 5 instead of 4 stars.
The phone has many features including an intercom, paging, the ability to associate different rings with different numbers in your handset directory (which stores more speed dial numbers than the console), and a privacy/do not disturb button.

This is really a great phone system. I did a lot of research in this category of phones, and I took a chance on this as there were no reviews online. This is replacing a Panasonic 2 line phone system, and while Panasonic makes a great phone, their new version has tiny screens on the handsets, so you can't read the caller ID. The RCA not only has very readable screens, but the base also has a larger screen which makes it very easy to see who's calling. The range is great too. I have a big house, and have no trouble with any of the handsets. It even works outside! Menus are very easy to navigate and are very intuitive.
If I had to find a negative, it would be the ringtones. You have 8 choices, but they are all just rings in different pitches and they are ALL annoying sounding. However, that is a small price to pay for a phone that does all the important stuff really well!

So far so good. I got the base and three additional hand sets. The voice quality is very good; no static at all. The speaker phone is also surprisingly good.
It would be nice to be able to use a hand set to record the outgoing messages on the answering machine. Using the speaker phone, despite the quality, allows more background noise on the messages than I would like.
As a previous reviewer stated, an indicator for provider voice mail would be a nice feature that is lacking.

I see that some people have had problems with their phones. I haven't had any problems at all and have mostly had a positive experience with this system. Lets put this in perspective; for about $300 we bought a complete 2 line wireless phone system for a 6 person office. The battery life is excellent, the sound quality is excellent and the features are extensive. There are some improvements I would like to see, such as a universal phone list for all extensions.
The phone comes with a desk stand (not included with other systems) and the display can be seen from a comfortable sitting position. The base station has a vertical row of 10 speed dial buttons, which saves me so much time, so very valuable. The answering machine function is great, it works as advertised. The speaker phone is loud, clear and sensitive to hear me talking from 8 feet away. The page and intercom features are simple and useful. And, it can be expanded up to 10 extensions!

This phone will not work very long. I am now waiting for my 3rd phone in less than a month. line 1 works great but line 2 stops working.
I am very disappointed in this phone and I'm very disappointed with the customer service. I am still waiting for a new phone to arrive almost 2 weeks now. I don't recommend
