Decent dectector, one of few remote mount choicesFeb 03, 2011
By Charles J. Willington There are not many remote mount radar detectors available. This is one of them. I chose this one because I was able to get it cheaper than the others and wanted a detector that was hidden for days when I didn't want my V1 stolen and was going into seedy areas. The installation is simple for anyone having done any installation work. I mounted the front head behind the front grill of my car and the rear laser sensor near the rear brake light (it can also be mounted on the bumper, but this was easier to do).
In terms of overall performance it doesn't false a lot which is helpful. It has really good X and Ka band warnings for something so cheap (and I've used a Valentine One before). The K band warning is only medicore but it could be my placement in the grill. They've switched a lot to Ka band around here so it is not that big a deal.
You can get jamming attachments for it. The radar ones would not be useful IMHO, however using two of the Laser Stik add ons for Laser technically may work if used on the front of the vehicle near the plate. They provide an 8mhz pulsed signal it appears from my testing, which if you have enough power should work by brute force but will likely cause jam codes on Laser guns and won't be effective on all models, but you can get them cheaply so it is a matter of personal choice. One unit does not have enough output to make this work however two may work on smaller less reflective cars. Whether it is worth risking that is up to you.
