Better than expectedSep 08, 2007
By Randy Ardie Davis
"Dulcimer Maker"
I received my four Sanus System speaker stands and was pleasantly surprised by their quality, and by how easy they were to assemble. They fit and hold my Klipsch Quintet speakers perfectly -- with the brackets specially designed for this model of speakers. The stands also come with several plates that fit a variety of speaker types.
The stands are easy to adjust up and down, and are not top heavy with my speakers. While the black coating is very nice, it is loosely bonded to the metal. I dropped a screw on the floor plate and it nicked the paint to bare metal.
By the way, I found the instructions easy to understand and follow, so perhaps they have been updated.
Here's a tip during assembly, especially if you are using 14-ga lamp cord: insert the cord into the tubes before you screw the tube to the floor plate.
Final comment: great stands at a great price. Highly recommended.

Overall Good StandsMay 23, 2006
By William Weller I purchased two pairs of these stands to mount my Sapphire Speakers that I purchased from Tweeter. After a trip to the hardware store to buy some nuts, bolts and washers I was able to mount my surround speakers with the included L-Brackets. Threading the wire through the poles was very easy. The finish is a "crackle" paint and they look good with my high gloss "piano black" speakers.
On the downside, my front speakers are taller and the L-Brackets were too short so I had to make an extension so they were long enough to mount to the speakers. I am lucky I have access to a metal shop so making the extension was easily done. Since I mounted the extension to the back of the L-Bracket it really isn't visible, but I would have preferred a properly sized bracket. Also one of the stands was damaged so I had to repair a threaded hole so it would assemble to the bracket. This required another trip to the hardware store to purchase a tap.
The stands seem to be stable, but they could be easily knocked over. I would feel more comfortable with slightly larger and heavier bases. The stands are really easy to assemble, but as another reviewer stated the instructions aren't written clearly. Overall I would still recommend the stands. They are still better than most of the competition.

Good standsJul 17, 2006
By Mike I bought these speaker stands for use with an Infinity TS-1100 system. They work very well with these speakers (there were no reviews beforehand). There were a few minor issues with trying to get 14 gauge speaker wire through the holes so I left the wires hanging (not very appealing to the eyes but it works).

Great speaker stands for the priceApr 07, 2005
By T. Thompson I've had the stands for about a week. I ordered my stands online, because the "big name" stores like Best Buy and Circuit City in my area were sold out since Christmas. I like them enough that I'm going to order another set.
PROS:
*Reasonable Price (plus, free shipping from Amazon)
*Hides the wires inside of the pole
*Adjustable height (helps with proper speaker placement and sound)
*Nice look
CONS:
*Directions included with the product are a bit unclear
(only reason I didn't give it 5 stars)

Flimsy, Tip Over EasilySep 20, 2009
By Amozarte While attractively inexpensive, these speaker stands are not suited for anything other than the smallest speakers and the smallest budget. I've owned these stands for only a little over a month and already one of them has been knocked over twice, resulting in a busted speaker.
Upon opening the box, I found hardware to suit a great deal of speaker choices, including my Klipsch RX5's. There is also hardware for my Klipsch bookshelf set. The instructions clearly indicated that both speakers were "compatible". However, in practise these stands cannot support the weight of these larger speakers and are VERY top-heavy after assembly.
The problem is twofold: 1) The base has almost no weight whatsoever, offering no counterbalancing. 2) The stands are so flimsy that the tube leans slightly on the base, even when fully tightened. This puts the centre of gravity too far outside the base.
For the RX5's, this didn't seem to be a problem at first because the speakers are set evenly over the tube, so the leaning effect was mild. However after mounting the bookshelf speakers the centre of gravity is so far forward that the stands wobble and fall over immediately under the weight of the speakers alone.
The RX5 mounts stayed upright until a few days ago, when my dog brushed against one of them and sent it toppling. The speaker was ruined as it hit the floor and will need to be replaced. I feel as though i need to point out that the dog only nudged the stand, it didn't take much force at all to send my speaker to its grave. Since then I've yet to remove the speaker and stand (for aesthetic purposes until I get a new one) and it has since fallen again- this time because the first crash loosened the tube from the base even more, which makes the contraption even more wobbly.
I gave the product two stars instead of one because this product might work well for someone with ultra-compact speakers, the kind that are only about six inches tall. If you have this kind of extremely small and lightweight speakers you will probably be happy with these stands. However, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who has larger speakers, a child, a dog, a cat, a rabbit, a mouse, or anything else that might disturb the stand at all.
