Nice for the price, but not a product for many peopleDec 19, 2009

This portable speaker is decent "for what it is", but I can see a lot of folks being disappointed with it. You truly have to be in a small room with no external noise to appreciate it. If everything around you is quiet, the speaker is audible enough to enjoy as background music.
It also distorts rather easily, depending on your EQ settings and source material transfer rate.
Bottom line: if you want this for travel purposes (like a hotel room), or quiet den or bedroom setting, then it's a nice little speaker that is very convenient (the way it attaches is great). But don't picture yourself using it to lay next to your head while sunning on a beach, as you'd never hear it over the external noises of nature. For $18 (inc. S&H), no complaints here, and its functional ability is what I anticipated for what it is.

I was a bit disappointed that the volume is rather limited. I use it before retiring so my ears aren't stuffed with the ear phones. It has some value but it's not as loud as I had hoped.

I got this for my son for his MP3 player so that he didn't have to constantly have earbuds in to listen to his music. This works surpringly well for the size and price. It definitely does the job. It won't be the sound quality you'd get from a stereo but it's not intended to be. Works really well and my son is very pleased with this item. You can't recharge it is the only problem so it takes 3 AAA batteries. But the batteries lasted for awhile for my son as it's not something you'd use constantly. It's portable, small enough to stash in a backpack, etc.

I purchased this exterior speaker for my SONY Walkman without knowing anything about these type products. Unfortunately I didn't know that the Sony SRS-NWT10M has a large connector called WM and does not work with all SONY Walkman models. The unit is attractive and stylish but doesn't connect to my device.
