No bass. Certainly not designed to be audiophile speakers. Look OK but feel awful; made of lightweight, flimsy plastic. Basic cheap computer speakers, not suitable for prolonged music listening, but what do you expect for the price?

I was looking for a cheap pair of speakers with decent sound, and I struck gold with these puppies. Actually, have great sound and pack a powerful punch into two small desktop speakers. Love it and wouldn't buy anything else now looking back. Not going to rock the house with base is the only reason why they don't get a 5 star rating, but I didn't expect them to for the price. And Amazon has the cheapest price I found.

I purchased these as a present for a friend...and they did not do what I had hoped they would.
I was anticipating that there would be multiple uses for them, but there are not.
The one and only way they work is to plug them in with the included power cord. You cannot run them with no power, and not on batteries.
They sound decent enough, but I wanted them to be more portable than they are. They will be perfect for work computer, or with your IPOD as long as you are near a power source.
They are very cheaply made, and were lighter than I anticipated...there is nothing to them.
They do serve their purpose for the price, just dont expect much.

I had the advantage of first purchasing another similarly priced off-brand product (just a few dollars cheaper) that was total junk and which I returned to store. These Sony speakers are vast upgrade: solid, no rattles, very good sound for their size (no subwoofer, but I knew that). I will be ordering another set for another location.
