4Good reception.Dec 10, 2002

This antenna provides excellent reception where others have failed before. I live in a metropolitian area, however, my house is surrounded by large trees. The reception is crisp and clear and I have found one position that works on all my local channels.

4Comparable to rabbit earsJul 20, 2009
By ViSWaR
I live 5 miles from all the stations in my area (Phoenix, AZ). The signal strength displayed on my converter box using this antenna is pretty much the same as using rabbit ears, for both upper VHF (channels 7-13) and UHF stations. Although the box claims it works for all VHF stations, I would not expect good reception with this antenna for lower VHF (channels 2-6), due to it only being 25 inches long. Be aware that digital tv uses virtual channel numbers, so if you have a channel 2 through 6 in your area, it may actually be a UHF channel. The primary reason I bought this was to replace rabbit ears, and due to where they were placed, I was afraid of walking into them or getting poked in the eye. This antenna has rounded corners on the two diamond-shaped elements, and they rotate freely around a center post. If rabbit ears don't work for you, this antenna probably won't be any better. One advantage (or in some cases, disadvantage) they do have is the elements are horizontal. Most people set rabbit ears at a 45 degree angle, but they perform best, usually, when perfectly horizontal. In areas where a reflected signal is actually stronger than the direct signal (like if the signal bounces off a large building), the ability of rabbit ears to change the angle of each element would be an advantage over this antenna. In the end, using any indoor antenna is a crapshoot, and none will work perfectly in every location.

1Did nothing for meJan 23, 2004

I bought this hoping to get reasonable reception in an urban area away from serious geographical barriers and broadcast interference. I didn't. In fact, I got better reception for some channels with a plain coaxial cable.

5five starsMar 07, 2010
By Eric "eric"
I give the Terk indoor antenna TV4 Five Stars***** and here is why:

I recently bought a ten" portable Viore tv, that I take with me wherever I go...

my problem was that I couldn't get my TV to pick up three major local houston channels: 8 [PBS], 11 [CBS], and 13 [ABC]. The antenna that came with the TV picked up all other channels but not the above three. I bought a rabbit ears antenna and a RCA antenna and they performed poorly.

I went to FRYS and settled for the Terk TV4, on the condition that if it didn't work I would take it back...When i connected it, it worked perfectly the images were crystal clear. Also i have recently found that the tv4 antenna works best when i place it on the floor which is rather strange.

I give the designers Five stars for the design, instead of stretching the antenna from here to timbuktu the odd squared design was a stroke of genius: it allows a long antenna to fit into a small space. plus it can be dismantled and carried all over the place.

1Don't waste your moneyMay 15, 2011
By Andrew
I wasted my money on this piece of garbage. I pick up about three times as many stations with my old rabbit ears. I'm pretty sure I'd be better off jamming a length of wire into the back of my TV rather than using that antenna. I even disassembled the unit, hoping to find that a lead wire had come loose, leading to the utterly miserable reception, but no dice. Also worth noting: the build quality is pretty poor, and the co-ax connector is the push-on type rather than the (much better) screw-on type. Spend your money on something else.
