MY EYES!Oct 27, 2008
By Karen Joan

I learned a long time ago that some things are worth a little extra money. I just added flashlights to that list.
I have the usual assortment of decaying flashlights hiding around my house. I have some keychain LEDs, a couple of 9-LED jobs I got for $5, and several old light bulb models including a giant Maglight I keep for self-defense. And while all of them do, in fact, cast light into dark places, the INTOVA puts them all to shame. To be clear, I'm not just using hyperbole when I say that. I had my family conduct a scientific test.
We unearthed every flashlight in the house. Then we installed new batteries (where possible) and cleaned lenses with glass cleaner. Then it was lights out and everyone on the couch. We then shined a broadside of flashlights against the far wall, keeping only the brightest ones for the next round. When we had whittled the field down to the 4 brightest, including the Maglight monster, it was time to turn on the INTOVA. BAM! Its 3 watt snow-white circle of light obliterated the other contenders. You could still see the Maglight, but that's mainly because it was casting a yellowish beam. We then turned on ALL of the other flashlights just for fun but the INTOVA just laughed at them. Ha. Ha.
Of course, it costs more than most of those other flashlights put together - except for the Maglight - but it's anodized aluminum and rated to work up to 400 feet under water. Of course, I'm happy if it still works after being washed by my youngest. It uses non-standard batteries, but at about $1 each I can live with that.
In short, this is a wonderful, compact light that does what you expect, even if you're not diving. But hide your eyes!!!!

good backup diving torchAug 30, 2008
By Sergei Grichine excellent backup flashlight for night diving - well made, bright, small. O-rings and the body looks very water-proof. The switch is a bit difficult to operate in gloves. Takes two lithium photo batteries - they are quite cheap on the Internet.

Excellent dive lightSep 26, 2011

I purchased this light for night dives and have used it a couple of times now. The light beam is excellent and the battery life is good, after about 4 hours the intensity of the light beam drops, but still gives good lightning. It came with an ON-OFF switch, not a 3 position switch as advertised and this was a bit disapointing. Overall I like this light and would recommend it.

A GREAT LIGHT AT A GREAT PRICE !!!Jul 06, 2011
By Northportdiver This light is absolutely GREAT! The price on Amazon is FANTASTIC! By the way, the light that I received is the 2010 model and it had the new and improved switch. That is very important!!!
About the light: ================ It feels rock solid, oozes quality and the new and redesigned switch has solved the only known flaw that the light appeared to have had. The light is very powerful and just about lit up my entire backyard. It only took me an hour to decide to purchase another one from Amazon. In order to save money on batteries, I ordered rechargeable ones. With the charger and 4 batteries the cost was $ 10.00. (Hong Kong) You cannot go wrong with this purchase.............this light is second to none and a GREAT value.

Great light.Jan 26, 2011
By MsEE I purchased two of these lights for a dive vacation last summer, as backup lights.
The lights were brighter than my 5-C cell Pelican pro-light. So they became the main lights, my UK AA cell lights became the backups, and my Pelicans stayed at home.
Truly, these are brighter and better focused, despite the single LED. I still haven't run through a set of batteries on any of the lights, despite being used on at least four night dives and now are my main inspection and night-time walk the dog light.
These lights are as rugged as the tactical military lights for four times the price.
So now I've purchased two more. The new ones came with an improved switch, the only weak point on the original set. It fixes the only minor complaint I had.
Highly recommend.
