2Bad for certain thingsJun 12, 2010
By SMusser
This was a real letdown. After reading these reviews i decided to purchase with the intentions of using devices like keyboards, mice and gamepads... and the connection is horrible on any of those.
Don't get this if that is your intension. However, this wire seems to do fine for more passive products like an mp3 player or thumb-drive... and maybe a printer.

But for devices that need to give rapid input like any input device it is terrible and unusable.

Example

if you plug a gamepad or keyboard in and press any keys... it will detect about 10% of your keypresses.

5Works great with Hauppauge 1212Feb 15, 2010

I needed an hdmi cable to transfer HD encoded signal from my PVR to my computer. My HD sources are in one room (with PVR) while my computer is in another. No problem in transfer using this product.

5Great product!Apr 01, 2009
By Estuardo Ramirez Perez "tidekeeper"
I needed to connect my hp deskjet 5550 printer to my apple airpot express so I could print wirelessly, only problem was the printer is 8.00 meters (about 26') away from the airport express, and maximum recommended USB 2.0 cable length is 5.00 meters (about 16'). This cable being 11.00 meters (36') long did the trick. Worth every penny.
Bottom line:
1.- Works at USB 2.0 speeds.
2.- Plug and play connectivity (didn't need any set up other than connecting it).
3.- Sturdy construction.
4.- It even looks great.

2A one way cableApr 12, 2011
By Paul Gifford
I bought this cable to connect the Bluetooth dongle for the TiVo Slide Remote Control to the TiVo, which was moved to a closet when we remodeled our bedroom. My plan was to have the USB cable go behind the wall and come out by the TV; I would then connect the dongle so the remote would be able to control the TV.

Initially it appeared everything was working - the blue light on the dongle was lit and it blinked in response to button presses on the remote. The TiVo, however, was not receiving the signal from the remote. I guess the unpowered dongle couldn't send a strong enough signal to reach the TiVo.

As a stopgap measure I used a 6 foot long USB extension cable to bring the dongle out of the closet and into the room. The remote was able to control the TiVo but the response was very laggy and the TiVo didn't always receive the command. It was very annoying...when fast-forwarding or rewinding we could never return to normal speed when we wanted, so we'd miss the mark and have to go the other way.

In the end the solution was to install a powered USB extender, the Cables Unlimited USB-1375 USB Over Cat5e Extender with Power Supply. That worked brilliantly, no lag at all.

As for this cable, I'm sure it would work fine for a printer or a powered device, but for an unpowered device that needs to send data back this isn't the solution. The Tripp Lite website doesn't indicate what works best with this cable so if you get it, be smarter than me and save the packaging. That way if it doesn't work you can get a refund.

5WORKS, LOOK NO FURTHER!Mar 07, 2011
By 2manytoyz "2manytoyz"
In my quest to find a cable that actually works I tried MANY brands in MANY configurations and kept returning them until I found this one. I have not trued this with a PS3 or Xbox yet but I have a plotter and cables that work on those did not work on the plotter. I found out plotters are very particular when it comes to communication. I found out that almost all cables with the exception of triplite are made overseas and have a VERY HIGH failure rate. The folks at the plotter supplier told me this and said they estimate that failure rates are around 70% with plotters. We're talking 70%.....that's huge. I questioned this number and they confirmed their talking about DOA and premature failure. Extension cables that don't function for the application were not taken into account in their estimated failure rate. Out of maybe 20 various brand cables I received in one order maybe 5 were DOA. Even that is high odds. I had at least 3 other cables that just failed after working a month or less. I know for sure one only worked a coupe hours.

When I found out Triplite was made in the USA I jumped on board and it worked flawlessly and continues to work flawlessly. Buy it, spend the extra $ and don't waste your time fooling with other brands.
