Great for mobilityJan 10, 2007
By D. Kapanke This adapter provides a full set of USB connections plus retracts. Very convenient! Works well. One end is a standard male USB connector and the other end is a female connector. This gives you a longer connection to your laptop or pc. The female connector uses 4 adapters that come with the system. This helps to make sure that your USB device can always tranfer the information it contains. Have had no problems with its use.

Performs as advertisedMay 11, 2010

I purchased this extension USB as well as some Zip-Linq extension cables, and the Philips perform admirably for the price. The Zip-Linq definitely seems more robust, but I have had no snags or problems with the Philips version. Having these kind of retractable cables definitley clears up my desktop, and makes traveling much easier.
I haven't had much use yet for the various adapters, but they appear to be sufficient to do the job when required.

I have two sets and they are great to have. I use one set at home and one set at the school where I work. I would recommend them to everyone

Barely FunctionsFeb 14, 2010
By J. Fried I have tried this with several devices and in most cases the device is not found or is found but not recoginized as a valid known USB device. If I use a standard (non-universal) cable with several of these devices on the same computer they work as expected for 2-way file transfers. I purchased this to provide a flexible way to connect various USB devices to Windows PCs including cell phones, MP3 players, and cameras but I have found that it although it causes the device to light up or the PC to see a generic USB device - I have yet to see it actually work while if I unplug this cable and use a corresponding standard USB cable with the same device and machine - without rebooting or changing anything it works. It appears that the cable itself is NOT thick enough to provide enough EMF shielding for USB to work correctly. In short, unless you only care about the looks and packaging - don't buy this!

Not for printersOct 06, 2008

I thought this product would be a good buy because of its adaptability, but most of all I needed it for my printer. This USB does not work with my printer however I will refrain from giving it a low score simply because most of the attachments DO work. I haven't figured out why it does not work with the printer though.
*Also it is kinda flimsy and most of the time does not re-wrap its cord
