I'm Impressed, I'm Cheap, I'm Listening, I'm Happy!Nov 21, 2008

After my home phone broke, I was looking for a cheap replacement. Like most households now are not using their home phones, I still keep a home phone just in case, and talk to the occasional telemarketer that get passed the Do Not Call list(j/k) Well I was looking for reliable, caller ID, high frequency that won't interfere with my wireless network, Back lit, and most importantly Cheap. I have purchased V-Tech before and had no problems. At first I was skeptical but I have come to give some cheaper brands a try. It is easy to set up. The buttons are nice and big, Caller ID back lighting is great, enough to see when it rings in the dark. It does not interfere with my wireless network which is important cause we have 4-6 computers/laptops connected. The sound is clear and crisp. You cannot go wrong with this phone and its price.

Buy Cheap, Get CheapMay 26, 2009
By Spudman I bought this phone because I wanted minimal gadgetry for a minimal price. I got what I wished for and less. This phone does work, is light in weight, and does look good. Except for the three small buttons on the bottom row, the backlit buttons are large and easy to see and easy to push. Sound quality is not stellar, but is more than adequate.
Two gripes are the dimly lit display that in no way measures up to the brightly lit screen shown on the packaging. Also dialing is slower than other phones I've used, but that's a minor complaint. In retrospect I wish I'd spent a little more for a phone with a speakerphone feature.
This isn't a bad phone for a second, third or fourth option. It's a good phone for that spare bedroom, but not the best choice for one's primary phone.

Love the little thingNov 02, 2008
By Rodney Goff My 15 year old Radio Shack cordless died so I got this one VTech CS5111 as a replacement. I also have 4 other cordless telephones in use throughout the home and external buildings. The Vtech is equal to or better than all of them. I found the audio normal and the phone comfortable to my ear. It is very simple to operate. I would certainly buy one again.

Perfect with Magic Jack!Mar 07, 2009
By Gggirlgeek "Mel" This phone is perfect for me. I use magic jack as my home phone and forward calls to my cell when I'm out. Now I pay $10/month for both!
Anyway, back to the V-tech. Great sound, great caller ID. Totally comfortable to talk on for a long time. I can keep it on my shoulder just fine too. The directory and caller ID functions work great once you read the manual and figure it out; not the most obvious set of functions. The volume and clarity are great though; no static.
With magic jack the phone's caller ID works perfectly, you just have to make sure to plug the magic jack into a SELF POWERED usb hub (with a power cord) rather than straight into your computer, then the caller ID kicks in. Also you can use your computer speakers and microphone as the speaker-phone. (Also make sure the phone is set to touch tone or it won't dial out with magic jack.)
I like the fact that it doesn't pick up a call when I take it off the cradle. I am always looking at the caller ID before I answer and I don't want to be afraid to touch my phone while squinting down at it.
I also like the option of adding new handsets later.

Great if you don't try to leave the room.Dec 16, 2009
By Curtis B. Whatley I spoke at length with Vtech about this phone. Their bottom line is that if it is near a computer or a wireless network it will not work very well. I agree with them completely. The phone works fine when i am within arm's length of the transmitter but as soon as I am more than ten feet away it starts breaking up and as soon as I break line of sight it's pretty much a goner. If you just want to do away with the hassle of a tangled cord get this phone. If you want a phone you can take to the other room or (gasp) outdoors, then get a DECT 6.0 phone, especially if you have a computer with WiFi. You get what you pay for with this phone and if you want a piece of junk not worth $20 then this is the phone for you.
