Great cool factor with one big flawDec 22, 2008

Love the phone and the features. Everything works fine although I can't agree or disagree with the other users regarding the short battery life. My calls are short and few.
My gripe with this phone is that the blue charging light is extremely bright! It lights up my bedroom at night with an eerie blue glow. I have put some black undies over the blue light to darken the room and that works. However, black panties covering the base of my phone kills the cool factor & sleek look of the Vtech LS5105!
Follow-up........a tiny piece of black electrical tape solved the glowing blue light problem. No more black panties on my phone!

Although this phone appears to be the best phone on the market solely based on its appearance (and the price for that matter), you will be hugely disappointed after your purchase.
I have had this phone, along with the base phone w/ answering machine for over a year. I work from home and conduct or attend several conference calls a day and wanted a high quality phone where I could use my Bluetooth headset and cell phone to make and receive calls via this phone's hardware/application.
Right out of the box, the Bluetooth feature does not work as advertized. I could not get my headset or phone to stay connected, which would result in multiple dropped calls on a daily basis. With that aside, I still kept the phone and used the built in speaker phone, utilizing my landline to conduct calls. All was well, until it was brought to my attention that the phone was randomly and unexpectedly muting my dialog in mid-sentence, which had nothing to do with signal strength or the call cutting out due to interference. We are talking about the equivalent to randomly pressing the mute button. This unwarranted issue would again, randomly and embarrassingly sabotage my phone calls, forcing me to use my cell phone for future calls.
Most recently, the backlight on the display on one of the handsets would remain lit, even after the display itself turned off. This, of course, would drain the battery 10 fold (as it would on a cell phone) only allowing for a 15 to 30 minute conversation before it had to be placed on the charger. This issue randomly fixed itself, somehow, only to return a couple of months later.
This is the last Vtech phone I will ever own. I am switching back to Panasonic. Please do not waste your hard-earned money on this total piece of junk. I regretfully spent $300 + on my setup for which I can say was the worst purchase I have ever made.

I love the phone and its simple functions with contemporary design...wallpaper animations include fireworks, lightning storm, windsurfer and a couple more...real cool...
I'm a gadget guy who tends to have the latest stuff, 13 year old son says it's 'tight' so you know it's cool in his eyes...
Purchased the base unit and 1 extra handset, just ordered 3 more handsets...very high quality...as my buddy says, "Pay the Man"

Wonderful phone. When I come home, my bluetooth-capable cellphone automatically rings on my VTech home units without any action on my part. Plus, talking on a VTech handset while your cellphone stays immobile means that cell phone calls from home are far more stable and free of interference. I used to have to run all over the house looking for my ringing cellphone - no longer. It now rings with a distinctive ring and I can answer it on any of my four Vtech units while my cellphone stays put charging up in the home office.

I bought this phone with four additional handsets. It is easy to set up, looks great and works superbly. I replaced a Siemens phone which was not easy to set up or figure out. This one will receive my cell phone calls as well, so I am covered when I am home. I highly recommend it. The fact that I don't have to have outlets for each handset is great. I am in a new home with awkwardly placed outlets and this phone solves those problems.
